Welcome to our new web site and to Altwood Church of England School. The launch of this web site coincides with the launch of our school community as a new style ‘stand alone’ Academy. We are absolutely delighted that, due to our track record and high standards, we were positioned to secure Academy status and we trust that our website will be a key means via which you can keep up to date with all our news and learn about what is new, exciting and even better about our school community.
I sincerely hope you will find the insight this website gives into our school community helpful, but it can not compare to visiting our school, meeting with our young people and staff and seeing our work in action.
You are, therefore, warmly invited to come along and visit us. We hold many ‘Open Mornings’ and an ‘Open Evening’ that will give you and your child a detailed insight into what it is like to be a part of the Altwood School community. We are also always happy to welcome you at a time convenient to you. The young people of Altwood and staff who work alongside them, very much enjoy sharing their learning experiences, achievements and successes with visitors. There exists a real sense of pride to be part of this thriving, highly successful and very popular school. When you visit, I know you will meet young people who are excited by learning, love challenge, aim high and experience great success and fulfilment. This is the reality for our young people because they are fortunate to be working with highly expert, experienced and committed staff who inspire and invariably do the best for, and get the best from, our young people. Because this is the day-to-day reality within our school, I feel incredibly privileged to be the Headteacher of this dynamic and vibrant learning community which is going from strength to strength. I would welcome the opportunity to share more about what makes us unique as a comprehensive church school academy which welcomes all and serves both the local community and families from neighbouring local authorities. Please do not hesitate to be in contact to request a meeting or visit. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Kathleen M. Higgins, Headteacher
